Finally winding down from an excellent display of the Exocet and Rocket at the 2012 Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals. Big thanks go out to Bill Morgan and Racing Analytics for loaning us a beautiful tow rig and to Pete and Brett from Dove Racing for making the 1400 mile drive out from TX with the Rocket. We are already looking forward to next year’s show!
Rogue Motorsport knows Toyota MR2s. On a typical day, you can find them converting an MR2 Roadster to a wide-bodied V6 race car. What to do with all those extra MR2 parts that tend to take up room at the shop? It seems a shame to just throw them away! The Rocket XP-1 is the experimental prototype of a purpose built track and race car that Rogue is developing on the MEV Rocket chassis in collaboration with RTR. They’ll be testing and developing throughout the year and aiming for a launch at Autosport International in 2013. Check out a video of Rogue Motorsport taking their MEV Rocket XP-1 to Mallory Park for the PPC Trackday and Development testing. Sure looks fun.
Exomotive is proud to announce a collaboration between James Hayward, the gentleman responsible for bringing Kit Car content to the Autosport International UK show, and Team MEV to run the Exocet Lightweight in selected Time Attack rounds throughout this season. With Adam Wilkins of Complete Kit Car Magazine running the car in a few rounds of the 750MC Sports Specials, it makes perfect sense to introduce the car to the Club NA Class of the Time Attack series.
After a full day of testing in the pouring rain last friday to give the car a thorough shakedown, James reported that the car is running sweet as a nut and is VERY, VERY quick. Based on the excellent power to weight ratio of the Lightweight Exocet, he believes they have a good chance of winning!
Be sure to come out to Brands Hatch on July 8th to support Team MEV as we attack this new series. As always, we could not have done this without massive help from our sponsors that have made this possible. A big thanks go out to Mills Extreme Vehicles, OMEX, SuperPro, Gaz Shocks, Auto Finesse, FatFish Motorsport, Nicholas Horne Photography and Complete Kit Car Magazine.
Spent some spare time Monday-Wednesday tearing down another Miata. If you have 15 hours to spare, you too can strip your Miata, label everything and sort the unused parts for sale. What are you waiting for?
RTR announced today that all 2012 MEV tR1ke chassis will have the facility to have an electric reverse installed. See the new demo chassis undergoing testing in the video above. Find out more information about the MEV tR1ke here.
Our MEV Rocket has a great feature in the March/April edition of Kit Car Builder Magazine – “Good Bones!” The reviewer had some great things to say about our exoskeletal kit car. Check out the quotes:
“0-60 in under 4 seconds… done an indicated 143 mph and still has some more.”
“The driving experience was one of the nicest experiences I’ve ever experienced in light track-day cars.”
“Eagle Canyon Raceway…is an ideal place for the Rocket, with phenomenal acceleration due to th exceptional power to weight ratio, coupled with rat-with-tennis-shoes handling and killer brakes.”
“The (Rocket) Kit starts at $7,438……a complete base model can be built for about $15,000, or one to this SVT spec for about $18,000. That’s Cobra-level track performance for less than the cost of a new Miata, and less than half the ticket on a new Atom”
Well, what are you waiting for?! We’ve got another container load of RTR cars on the way and still have a few kits available. Save on shipping and order one soon before this load sells out! Give us a call at 404-919-1396 or email here.
Exocet fan and Photobucket user leeguest penned some very interesting new bodywork for the Exocet. Behold the Exodon! Aggressive angles and a completely different styling approach certainly make this an interesting concept to consider for the future.
The good news keeps on coming in 2012 – the MEV Rocket is officially the first exoskeletal vehicle licensed for road use in the entire continent of Australia! Not even the Ariel Atom can pass Australia’s ultra tough vehicle regulations.
The year keeps getting better with more fantastic news from down under. Our Australian dealer, Terry Southam of Southam Automotive Engineering, announces that their MEV Rocket has passed Australia’s extremely tough, specialist vehicle regulations. The MEV Rocket is the first road legal exoskeletal vehicle in the entire continent.
After receiving their first Rocket in 2010, over 12 months were spent tweaking the design to comply with Australian regulations. Test jigs were constructed to ensure the Rocket could withstand the super stiff torsional rigidity figure of 4500nm/degree of deflection – something not even the Ariel Atom has attained. Also new for the Australian model is a pedestrian-friendly front nose cone developed in conjunction with the Curtin University of Product Design. Terry’s engineering expertise will undoubtedly bring additional improvements to the Rocket in the coming months and we are excited to see the fruits of his efforts. Find out more about Southam Automotive Engineering (SAE) here.

Another great Autosport International! With the MEV Exocet MX150R race car on display at the Ma5da Racing stand, some of the show’s booth professionals stopped by to have their photo taken with the car and Exocet designer Stuart Mills.
