How will you build yours?

Over the years, we’ve had lots of questions about the Exocet. This page details many of the frequently asked questions and you can explore them by clicking on the question to see the answer. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the current lead time for an Exocet kit?

As of August 2023, the current lead time for most Exocet kits is approximately 10-12 weeks.

Is a right hand drive Exocet Available?

Yes, Exomotive produces a right hand drive (RHD) Exocet configuration that can be ordered as an option. Contact us for details.

How long will it take me to build?

Build times depend on the builder, but in general we typically see an average of 100 hours for completion of an average Exocet build. On the low end, we’ve seen more experienced builders complete the process in 50 hours.

Can you build my Exocet for me?

Exomotive does not offer full builds or rollers at this time. However, there are third party assemblers throughout the U.S. who can help with donor car procurement along with partial or complete assembly.

Is a tow hitch available?

At this time a tow hitch is not available for the Exocet.

What other engines can I use in the Exocet?

Since the Exocet was designed around the 1990-2005 Mazda Miata platform, builders can take advantage of the numerous swap kit options available on the market. Exomotive worked with V8Roadsters to design an Exocet-specific LSx V8 and LFX V6 swap kit that is available in our store. Other swap kits on the market are the Honda K-series (K20/K24) from KPower Industries, Honda J-series (J32/J35) from MiniTec, and additional V8 swap options from Monster Miata. We also offer a mount-less front subframe for those customers who want to install alternative engines and weld their own mounts.

How do I insure my Exocet?

Exomotive and our customers have had success with a variety of insurers throughout the country including Rally Insurance, Hagerty, and other specialty car insurers available in the marketplace.

How do I register my Exocet?

Your Exocet kit can be registered using your state’s custom vehicle registration process. The SEMA Action Network has provided a fantastic resource and supplies a PDF file for each state that includes all the pertinent laws, forms, and processes you need to be aware of during registration.
